The Team

Our Staff

Penny Cartright - Manager

Penny is NNEB Qualified. She has worked in a variety of settings and chose to specialise in early years education. She has worked at the Pre-School since October 2019. Penny loves the outdoors and can be found out for a walk on the moor.

What our families say about Penny. "We have been truly blown away by the things that they are learning with Penny and the amazing way that she is teaching them to explore the world is so above and beyond what we had expected from a Preschool"

Becky Hutchings

Becky first came to the Pre-School for work experience in 2016/17 when qualifying for er Level 2 and 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and education. Becky attended the Pre-School herself as a child and feels very privileged to have returned as Pre-School Assistant in 2019.  In her spare time she helps out on her family farm and loves being outside with her animals.

What our families say about Becky. "Both of our children have been totally in love with Becky - they feel safe and reassured in her presence and she engages and plays with them encouraging their learning and imaginative play"

Key Person

Every child is allocated a 'Key person' from our staff members. This Key person will get to know your child and build a relationship with them. They will closely follow their learning and development ensuring that their needs are being met and that they are gaining the appropriate development and learning from attending. They are also the main contact regarding your child.

Volunteers & External Teachers

Jacqueline Vann attends as a volunteer to run Dalcrose sessions a few times each half-term.

Rose Underhill - Rose has a huge amount of childcare experience and helps at Preschool when we need additional members of the team, for example when other members are taking part in staff training.

Lucy - On alternate Friday mornings the children enjoy Yoga with Lucy which they really enjoy and is a great was to get them moving and engaging with something different.

Parents - Throughout the year we encourage parents and family members to visit the children and talk to them about their jobs and hobbies. We have had a wide variety of the years from Wool Spinners to Fireman. We also have a very special Christmas visitor who makes a magical visit at our Christmas party!

The Committee

The Pre-school is a registered charity run by a committee of volunteer Trustees and registered with Ofsted to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage. The committee is made up by current and old parents as well as other skilled members of our community. We encourage parents to get involved in the committee and fundraising events as much as possible and whilst this is of course not obligatory it is a great way to be more involved in our wonderful preschool community and helping your children and our setting thrive.

Committee Chair -  Rose Underhill (contact details in 'Contact us')
