PreSchool Assistant
Widecombe Pre-school is a small rural setting in the heart of Dartmoor. Open to children from 2-5 years for up to 15 hours per week. Our focus is on child led learning with as much outdoor time as possible including 3.5 hours in our outdoor classroom facility.
We are looking for a Pre-school Assistant to join our team to contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the setting.
The successful applicant will ideally hold an early years and childcare qualification at Level 3.
Specific childcare tasks:

The preparation and completion of activities to suit the children’s stages of development

To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing

Washing and changing children as required
-
Providing comfort and warmth to any ill children

To help to setup for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session.

To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.

To work in partnership with the other staff and the committee as well as the parents/carers and other family members.

To advise the Manager of any concerns, e.g. health and well-being of children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary

To take action to support the setting to achieve and maintain a minimum good Ofsted rating at the next inspection

To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences

To ensure that children are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protection procedures

To actively participate at team meetings, supervision meetings and appraisal meetings
-
To attend training courses as required and to take responsibility for personal development
-
To attend some out of working hours activities, e.g. staff meetings, Christmas fair etc
-
Help to set up and put away a range of equipment and materials each session

To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff, which is acquired as part of the job.
